Quick Guide for Alumni Chapters
To be recognized as an alumni chapter of Delta Sigma Pi for the following fiscal year (July 1 - June 30), alumni chapters need to complete the following franchising requirements between April 1 and June 30.
Franchised chapters are required to re-franchise annually to remain up-to-date. If you did not franchise last fiscal year there is also a charter fee of $25. For more information about franchising and chartering contact alumni@dspnet.org or 513-523-1907.
All new alumni chapters or those franchising after a period of inactivity will need to have the name of the city in which they are located first in the alumni chapter name. More details can be found in the Policies and Procedures Manual.
Plan ahead and begin your preparations for applications for one or more Delta Sigma Pi alumni chapter awards, including: Outstanding Alumni Chapter, Most Improved Alumni Chapter, Outstanding Service, Outstanding Professional Activities, and Outstanding Collegiate Relations. Applications for all alumni awards and the District Director of the Year award are due by June 1. Review the Awards & Recognition Guide for complete guidelines and application requirements.
The Alumni Chapter Officer Report should be submitted for chapter franchising and anytime officer information changes. Login required.
The Officer Contacts section allows alumni chapters to find contact information for all chapter officers. Login required.
The Document Well is a chapter-specific document holding area on the web, which is intended to be a storage place and reference area for chapters, national leaders, and staff. Each franchised alumni chapter can view its most current officer report and bylaws in its chapter's Document Well. Login required.
IRS Tax Form 990 must be submitted by all alumni chapters before November 15th following the fiscal year (July 1 to June 30) for which the chapter was active. Failure to complete the filing requirements will result in loss of your tax exempt status and additional penalties may be imposed by the IRS.
The Alumni Newsletter is a quarterly newsletter filled with Fraternity updates, news, and articles from Alumni Chapters across the country.
The Alumni Chapter Operations Manual is a complete guide for running an alumni chapter. It includes information about planning and organizing, officers and committees, membership, programming, finances, communication, involvement and support, and alumni awards.
The Alumni Chapter Best Practices Manual contains information about the best practices from alumni chapters across the country including ideas for communication, activities, and so much more. It is a companion piece to the Alumni Chapter Operations Manual.
The Alumni Chapter Bylaws Template allows chapters an easy way to create or update current chapter bylaws while insuring they are compliant with all National Policies.
The Alumni Chapter Sample Policies helps chapters create their own Policies and Procedures Manual. The examples provided are merely suggestions to guide the chapter to formate its own policies and procedures and are not required policy.
Manuals to help the chapter in other areas including Service Activities, Financial Management, Fundraising, Professional Activities, Recruiting, and Risk Management can also be found on the Alumni Chapter Resources Page.
